Fiber arts galore at NCW Festival of Quilts
WENATCHEE — The North Central Washington Quilt Guild will hold its annual NCW Festival of Quilts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Town Toyota Center.This year’s festival boasts 300 handmade traditional, modern and art quilts, as well as dolls, beadwork and a Dr. Seuss-themed hanging exhibit. Visitors can enjoy live and silent demonstrations and crafty conversations with members of local knitters and weavers guilds. A merchant mall and artisan market will be open during the exhibition.Visitors can cast votes for their favorite quilt in the People’s Choice category Friday. Winning quilts will be displayed Saturday.The festival will also include a silent auction featuring handmade inspiration-themed wall hangings and a raffle for “Summertime,” a handmade wool appliqué quilt. Auction proceeds will benefit YWCA NCW.The festival’s featured quilter is Eileen Dvorak, longtime member of the NCW Quilt Guild and former owner of the Calico Cat quilt and needle art store. Also, the Tri-City Quilters’ Guild will offer a special curated exhibit as the guest guild of 2018.Admission is $7 at the door and is good for both days.For more information, visit ncwquilt.org.
