YWCA North Central Washington is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Our local vision is to empower women, men, and children to break the cycle of economic insecurity and homelessness and achieve self-sufficiency through assistance, support and education.

HallowQueens Drag Show
After a two-year hiatus YWCA NCW is ecstatic to bring back our annual Drag Show, HallowQueens, the premiere event for Halloween weekend! Join us for a night with Connie Hung St. James and her troop of Drag Queens for a performance you won't forget anytime soon. Bring your dollars (and your checkbook) for this YWCA NCW fundraiser! All funds go directly towards our communities most vulnerable members, whether it's through housing insecurities programs, job training and clothing assistance at the YWCA Thrift Store, broad community outreach and education in social justice. You are not going to want to miss this, and we look forward to celebrating it's return with you!

"I have volunteered on two separate occasions for YWCA, first around 2014-2016, then 2019-present. Both times, I have served as board secretary. My reason for serving has evolved throughout the years. When I first started, I knew that YWCA provided emergency shelter to women and their children, not to mention a pantry to serve those who needed assistance with food. Since my son was only 4 years old at the time, this really tugged at my heartstrings. I believe that everyone deserves food, and a warm and safe place to sleep every night. Then I took a break to focus on homeschooling and taking care of my family. When I rejoined the board, I still felt the same way, but I also felt passionately that women should have access to the tools necessary to become financially independent. I like the opportunities that YWCA provides for women re-entering the work force. I am excited to be working with such a diverse and energetic group of volunteers!" - Shelly Nelson
Staff Profile
Judy Escalera, Administrative Assistant
In 2015, Judy Escalera began her career at YWCA NCW as a receptionist through OIC of Washington (an employment agency). In March 2016, Judy was hired as a Housing Specialist at YWCA NCW. In February 2017, she was moved up to Administrative Assistant. Judy has been working at YWCA NCW for six and a half years. When asked about why she is passionate about working at YWCA NCW, she responded, "I like that YWCA NCW helps women and children with a safe place to stay even though it is temporary. How YWCA gives clients (men, women, and children) empowerment and support to get them back on their feet. Not a lot of people can say 'I can do this without any helping hand' when they get knocked off their feet. YWCA is there for the others that do need help - no matter what race, religion, or sexuality. I like the classes and education, to bring a knowledge that there are problems in our society and it's not going to be fixed until people see it and understand it. It gives me great pleasure to just work with all the staff that helps YWCA clients and community." Judy has a lot of favorite hobbies, but one of her most favorite is exploring lighthouses. And finding the history of each lighthouse - they all have their own history.

YWCA NCW depends on a generous community to support our essential work to house homeless and low-income women and families and get them back on their feet to a safe and stable life.
Tell Congress to Protect Our Rights to Access Abortion!
YWCA has supported access to abortion for more than 50 years, armed with the knowledge that the right to determine their reproductive future was protected by Roe. Most recently, to ensure the experiences and voices of young people are heard by the Supreme Court, YWCA USA proudly submitted an amicus or "friend of the court" brief in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, the case that ultimately overturned Roe v. Wade. Today, we're in solidarity with everyone who believes that abortion is a fundamental right.
Get Out the Vote
There are more than 7,000 local, state, and federal seats up for grabs this November!!
We are working with When We All Vote to make sure every eligible person is registered to vote. Join us to shift the culture around voting!

Week Without Violence
A week to raise awareness and engage in action to stand against domestic violence and sexual assault. Joining YWCA's national movement, YWCA NCW and SAGE partnered together during Week Without Violence. You are invited to follow us on social media using hashtag #WWV22 and join us in person during:

Fall Food Drive
Saturday, October 15 at Plaza Super Jet and Grocery Outlet Wenatchee
Donations needed include: pancake mix, syrup, oatmeal, granola bars, chips, cereal, coffee, peanut butter, jelly, mustard, ketchup, canned fruit, Spam, soup, tuna, chili, mac & cheese, popcorn, variety of seasonings, white rice, baby food, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, and deodorant.
At this time, we do not need diapers or baby items.
The YWCA Thrift Store is offering a 10% discount to shoppers who also made a dry food donation. Valid the entire month of October.
Look for us at Trick or Treat on the Ave October 31, 3:00 - 5:00 pm.
