HISTORIC NEWS: National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence
On May 25, the White House released the first-ever U.S. National Action Plan to end Gender-Based Violence (GBV), with 14 federal agencies coming together to show an unprecedented commitment to helping survivors and their families. YWCA USA policy staff were invited to the White House for this release and to have a community conversation on the work that remains to prevent and address GBV in the U.S.Incorporating recommendations from you, the YWCA Network, the National Plan identified seven pillars to inform this work. This framework for federal action gives priority to areas that have been underemphasized by policymakers in the past such as prevention, racial justice, and LGBTQI+ equality. The Plan supports survivors' needs with access to housing, economic and labor protections, online abuse, and including supports for national emergencies and natural disasters. YWCA USA looks forward to being a partner with federal agencies as they carry out these commitments.Release of the National Plan to End Gender-Based Violence: Strategies for Action
